Dr. Aylward has over 17 years of clinical, research, and business development experience in academic medicine and the digital health industry. He is currently a consultant and advisor to several startups in the health technology and digital therapeutics space, supporting business development, evidence-generation, and dissemination efforts.

Prior to this, he was the Director of Digital Health Research and Advisory Services at RTI International and led contract research and consulting services to health technology and digital therapeutic companies, healthcare providers and organizations, and payors on the deployment and evaluation of digital health technologies and programs.

Dr. Aylward earned his doctorate degree from the University of Kansas and completed his residency and fellowships at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). During his time at CCHMC, he completed the Quality Scholars Program for Healthcare Transformation, a program designed to create leaders who will advance the scholarship of healthcare improvement and implementation science, healthcare innovation, and effective healthcare delivery system interventions. Dr. Aylward has completed formal trainings in healthcare innovation, health technology and life sciences, technology commercialization, and healthcare strategy through the NIH, NSF, Kauffman TechVentures, and StartUp Health. His work in digital health technology and healthcare innovation has been featured in several media outlets, including the U.S. News and World Report, Fortune, and AIS Health. In addition, he has published many studies and articles in peer-reviewed literature on digital health, as well as published numerous thought leadership pieces to provide distinctive insights on the use of digital health solutions for patient care.
