Mark VanderWerf, Principle Consultant
Mark is a problem solver. Addressing the challenges of healthcare, he has over 30 years of experience in telemedicine and other advanced healthcare delivery solutions as a hospital executive, vendor and entrepreneur. Mr. VanderWerf is a regular consultant and mentor to leading corporations, startups, healthcare delivery interests, and policy makers worldwide. His roles included: CEO of Telehealth at Banner Health; Vice President of eHealth, OEM and Strategic Relationships at Nonin Medical; Founder and CEO of AMD Global Telemedicine; Manager of New Ventures for Digital Equipment Corporation.
Mark is a regular speaker and author. He recently led critical task forces for the National Telemedicine Technology Assessment Resource Center (TTAC) in Covid Response Planning (using telemedicine and digital health to address key challenges published in 2022) and led a think tank to explore what technologies will most affect healthcare in the next 3-5 years which included the extensive application and impact of AI (published in 2023).
Mark is a Fellow of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) where he served as a Board Member and Chairman of the Industry Council. He is also a Founding Board Member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH). He has personally been involved in implementation of telemedicine and digital health programs in over 60 countries around the globe from Alaska to Sudan. He is the recipient of multiple awards. Most recently, the 2023 Lifetime Excellence in Achievement Award from the University of Wisconsin.
