Eleanor Health, Vice President of Medical Strategy
Steve North, MD, MPH, FAAFPDr. North is a Family Physician and Adolescent Medicine specialist. In 2011, he founded the Health-e-Schools school-based telemedicine program that currently provides access to acute care, primary care, behavioral health and adolescent medicine to over 70,000 students at 130 schools in ten predominantly rural school districts across North Carolina. Dr. North is also the Vice President of Medical Strategy for Eleanor Health, a mental health medical home for people affected by substance use disorders. Eleanor provides 96% of its care entirely virtually in 7 states.
Previously Dr. North has served as the Medical Director for Mission Virtual Care from 2014-2019 working with a team to integrate inpatient, outpatient, virtual visits, and remote home monitoring into Mission Health, North Carolina’s sixth largest health system that serves the state’s 18 western most counties.
Currently Dr. North is serves on the boards of the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center, Advocates for Youth, the Foundation for Health Leadership and Innovation and Impact Health. Additionally, he was a member of the National Quality Forum’s Telehealth Standards Committee and Rural Telehealth and Emergency Preparedness Committee and has co-authored multiple articles and book chapters on telehealth including the American Telemedicine Association’s Operating Procedures for Pediatric Telehealth and the Practice Guidelines for Telemental Health
